The Hella Thrifty Story

Hella Thrifty was born from a medical student’s hustle to survive on educational loans. I stumbled into thrift shopping as a way to make my budget stretch, but what I found was more than a bargain. I discovered a world of bold 90s patterns, unmatched craftsmanship, and fashion that told a story.

What started as an Etsy side hustle—reselling my favorite thrift finds to fund new ones— quickly sparked something bigger. I realized there was a community of people like me: bold, nostalgic, and hungry for quality pieces that don’t blend in. That’s when Hella Thrifty became more than a shop— it became a brand.

With no background in fashion (my degrees are in science), I taught myself everything— how to build an e-commerce site, design collections, produce media, and market my vision to name a few. I was a one woman show for a long while. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it. Brick by brick, Hella Thrifty grew from a solo grind to a full-on movement.

Today, we’re all about retro streetwear and sustainable thrift finds —made for the bold, worn by the fearless. The 90s were bold. Fashion had quality. Individuality ruled.
